Recently I''ve been considering picking up a GP32 and doing some development for it. The problem is, there is an extreme lack of information and resources. I''ve googled everything, searched a lot of the big sites, etc. I''ve been able to find some sample source code, and some compiler setup tutorials, but the main problem I''m having is getting a copy of the SDK. The English development site is completely down, and the Korean dev site (www.gameparkdev.co.kr) just redirects me to the main GP32 website. Searching the forums (yes, I looked for every GP32 post in the Console development forum) wasn''t very helpful. There was an old post about the development site being down and a new SDK being released but that was in 2002. Something most have been released since then, right?

I''ve found a site that looks promising (finally.) gp32x.com.

yep, that''s the best one.
it funny... GP32 has a brilliant community, but they all seem to gather around two sites : gp32x.com, and #gp32dev or something like that, on efnet (an IRC site - anyone know how you get on these??)

For Windows mIRC is the flag-ship, and Gaim will also connect to IRC servers as will Trillian (if it''s still around).

I''ve been considering a wide range of products to hack, from my Cisco 2500 router, TiVo DVR2, PS2, GameBoy, and I''ve looked at the GP32 a couple of times (can you believe the cheapskates at Nintendo only put an 8bit audio chip in the GBA and already overdrive the #@$@#$ of out it).

The disappointing thing about the GP32 is that it''s not backlit and the frontlit models are rather expensive. Otherwise it looks like solid hardware.

Have you looked at any other devices?
The trade-off between price and quality does not exist in Japan. Rather, the idea that high quality brings on cost reduction is widely accepted.-- Tajima & Matsubara

I haven''t picked up a GP32, so I''m not working on it. Right now I''m considering various cellphone platforms, and the Zodiac Tapwave also. I like the GP32 because it''s pretty cheap and very open (easy to get stuff up and running on actual hardware.)
