what CPU / RAM / HDD does it have ?
If you want to play some old DOS games, install MS-DOS 6.22.
Else install Debian or FreeBSD, those should work with a 386 with 4Mb of RAM and require about 150Mb harddisk (IIRC) and can be installed with a bootdisk and a connection to the internet (get a PCMCIA network card if it doesnt have one)
Or, if you have enough space, install both MS-DOS and Linux.

No, install NetBSD on it, its more portable and lighter.

the pcmia card is good for a telephone jack but how would I hook that up to my router or even to my pc and then go about downloading netbsd?
i thik you have to get a PCMCIA network card (NIC), apparently you have a PCMCIA modem (which you could hook up to the phone and dial-up
I have an old 386 Toshiba laptop with 4MB RAM and a 40MB (megabyte) hard-drive, no CD-ROM or PCMCIA, and a mono 12" screen. I don''t really use it for anything, though I was going to play around with interfacing stuff to the parallel or serial ports.
