Apache2 help?

this isn''t really a programming question, but it''s kinda related and someone might be able to throw me a bone, so... For some reason I cannot stop the Apache2 (version 2.0.48) service, running under Windows 2000. Whether I try with the Apache Monitor program, or straight from the "Services" window, the service gets stuck in "Stopping" status. After a few minutes the computer reboots by itself. has anyone ever dealt with this? any suggestions? is there another place i can go to sort this out? thanks!
