One demonstration of excellence is vastly superior to a plentitude of mediocrity.
The trade-off between price and quality does not exist in Japan. Rather, the idea that high quality brings on cost reduction is widely accepted.-- Tajima & Matsubara

Im not sure what your saying... I would really like to answer that question tho. In my opinion anyways I would like to be a game programmer when I end up being a successful adult.(lol im in high school with high hopes. ) But yeah, I would Like to end up worken for bungie , or ubi. Knowing game programming can aloso get you into making just anyother program such as Anti Viruses.

He''s basically saying that one great demo would look much better than 10 crappy ones.

Agreed. Never underestimate how important polish is. Take the time to make the game absolutely positively bug-free, give it a nice opening screen, a good menu, etc. That''s what makes a demo stand out.

Also, one finished demo is better than 10 half finished demos. Starting a project is easy, it''s finishing it that''s the hard part (ask 3D Realms...) so focus on getting one really polished, finished demo first and then start another one if you''ve got spare time. I''d also advise you to aim for something reasonably simple to start with - a finished Tetris clone is better than a complex RPG that''s been abandoned because it was too ambitious.
