high, i must have recently downloaded something bad, because all of a sudden i started getting a million pop-up ads. anyway, i ran spybot and ad-aware and found like a million spywares. anyway, the spyware just kept coming back, everytime i would reboot i would scan again and there would be more spyware. i downloaded The Cleaner which is a trojan remover, it found like 8 trojans on my computer, i removed them all. anyway, pretty much everytime i run the cleaner it finds a trojan and everytime i run spybot it finds spyware. i think ive got it all removed, but for some reason ads keep popping up every fucking 2 seconds. also, these ad''s dont even have the internet explorer icon in them, its like as if its a whole program on my pc that just pops up ads every 5 fucking seconds. does anyone know what to do? i just ran spybot and ad-aware and the cleaner and theres no trojans or spyware, but these god damn pop up windows keep coming. please dont tell me i have to format my HD and re-install everything. thanks for any help!! oh, and is there ANY way to prevent this from ever happening again?

no, no damnit im not re-installing. i already have an anti virus program thats constantly scanning (norton) and just now more pop up windows popped up, and they DID have a IE icon in them. also, i ran spybot and it found more spyware. anytime i remove spyware it just comes right back. and im sure theres still a trojan on this fucker but im not scanning because the cleaner takes an hour to scan. i just dont understand, i never have had this problem before even tho i constantly remove spyware.

Have you just started using a computer or something?

Do you have Kazaa (not lite) installed on your computer or any other spyware ridden P2P program?

Do you by any chance suffer from a brain hemorage?

All of the above and more answered in the next episode of who gives a rats ass!

No, he's high, he said so in the first word of his post..

I do have to agree however, that the best way to remove such things is to try to avoid getting them to begin with.. although it may not have been something you could have avoided, it's a good suggestion.

And as to,
quote:
dude, [...]. what the [...]? did i even ask your opinion? why dont you take the bug [...] out of my thread. i was just wondering if anyone else ever came to this problem and how they fixed it. [...]

You didn't ask my opinion either, so I guess I won't respond to the original question. Regardless, reformating is usually the easiest solution.

[note: I understand that popups can make one highly irritable, and that the bluntness of some responses may not help that any, but it's still no excuse for losing your head, sorry.]

The only reason I reacted that way was because you seemed to have only registered to get your computer fixed. Why have I come to this conclusion? Well, you signed up today, you haven''t introduced yourself, and your very first post was about your computer and you don''t seem to know a whole lot ABOUT computers so ...

Anyway, "dude", the bug is firmly planted in my ass, and mind the fucks, the mod''s don''t take kindly to several of those in one reply alone.

What the hell are you talking about? I'm just quoting that to save it for posterity.

Even if you weren't being a complete idiot (clue: he's posted like every day in the For Beginner's forum for months now), you'd really need to grow a less annoying attitude.

wow, don't pay attention to drevays post filla. Try going here as an initial action: clicky

The software spybot search and destroy is a free download that a person can donate too if they like it. Once you try that, you can also try adaware to do a similar check. When you install either of them run an update first just in case they have old reference files. If it doesn't work let us know, and those of us that aren't jackasses will help you out.

pointless advice since you did use both pieces of software.

damn, I didn''t notice that he had ran both pieces of software (adaware and spybot). That pretty much invalidates my tips. Although, I''ve never had a situation with spyware that wasn''t resolved with both those pieces of software.

This happened to a friend of mine once. He used adaware, spybot, Hijack This; the whole shabang. Nothing. Ironically, the pop-ups he was getting had the message "STOP POPUPS NOW!".

(also, they didnt have to have IE open either, but it seemed as if they used IE...hrm)

I cant think of a decent signature right now...try back later...MUCH later.

Get Spybot S&D and immunize your PC. I did and now that stupid Xupiter bar never somes up as well as many of the other spyware/adware out there.

You know, what you just said might be the problem. If he gets popups that are of the type of a messagebox in win32 with the ok button and the title "Messenger Service" then he''d need to do this:

-Click Start and then click Control Panel.
-Click Performance and Maintenance.
-Click Administrative Tools.

-Double-click Services.
-Double-click Messenger.
-In the Startup type list, choose Disabled.
-Choose Disabled from the Startup type list in Messenger Properties.
-Click Stop, and then click OK.

Graveyard Filla, boot in safe mode and try to run those applications again. It might help. Also, you should disable the Messenger service in windows(That''s not MSN).

Do this:
Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services. In the list look for a service called "Messenger". Right click it -> Properties. Click stop and set startup type to "Disabled". That gets rid of annoying non IE icon ads.

hey guys, sorry for all the cussing earlier, i was a bit irritated about my computer being screwd up, and that kid really just got on my nerves. anyway, thanks for all you advise. anyway, ironically half the pop up ads that pop up say "you have spyware on your computer" and then they provide a link to a spyware removal program (that you have to pay for). what kind of sick world do we live in where people implement spyware just to sell spyware removal programs? this is sick, man. oh yeah, and and guess what i just noticed, when an add popped up, this is what the URL in the top said:

C:\Documents and Settings\DMF\Local Settings\Temp\~DlfnTmp6\index.html

obviously the spyware/adware is on my computer, and its loading the web pages into my own god damn folders. does anyone know how to fix this or what i can do? i keep runnig spybot and stuff, and keep removing spyware. also, the cleaner has stopped findinig trojans, so i think i can finnally rule that out. thanks for any help!
