There's something that's been getting on my nerves for a little while... Emotes! Could we have something to disable the "automatically replace ascii emotes by graphic emotes" feature the boards have? PHPBB and Invision both have a very lovable checkbox that does it automatically. I'm getting annoyed with seeing my text getting butchered whenever I inadvertantly place, say, a semi-colon next to a closed parenthese ("There's something in the API that does that (Sleep(); )"). Furthermore, I just find it annoying to have this goofy taking over my post whenever I decide to use the ever-classic : ) emote somewhere in my post. I'd love to see this. It wouldn't be too hard to add a checkbox and have some sort of "if(chkKillEmote != CHECKED) ParseAndReplaceEmotes();" thrown in the forum code. Not only would it allow users to keep using this non-essential feature, it would also allow others to enjoy a more "clean" post without having a bunch of tacky little smiling yellow balls taking over. ; ) Thanks. Or rather, thanks. : ) Edit: They did it again!!! ;.; [edited by - RuneLancer on March 26, 2004 3:28:29 PM]

I have a hunch that is already a feature in these new forums we keep hearing about.
For now, there is an ugly workaround: put </b> or something similar between the colon and parenthesis.

A quick check reveals they''re not there yet. I''ll put in a request, this is a sensible feature.
