I know there is another one up north (US) that is open to fans and the public. Anyone know its name?

Tiffany, that would be SIGGRAPH (all caps, two gs). I don''t know if that is the one the OP is looking for, though.

found it it was Gen Con, in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 19-22, 2004 and in Anaheim, California on Dec. 2 - 5, 2004.

E3, GDC, SIGGRAPH, Gen Con

One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn''t belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?
