I have an article on a project I did at: http://www.cljy.com/~billy/MutatingProgram.htm In summary, it''s just about mutating programs; the theory, the experiments, and the results. I''m open to comments, suggestions, bashings, etc... but keep bashings to a minimum especially if they are non-constructive. Enjoy.

I think that it was a very cool experiment and probably taught you a lot about evolutionary programming. I think i might try it myself one day if i have the guts to take the chance on ruining my hard drive .

I think that Evolutionary Programming will be the future of computer programming. Writing programs that update themselves and improves themselves would be majorly beneficial to companies AND users. The company wouldn''t have to worry about writing a patch if the program could do it for them. The users also would have a better time if the program would update itself instead of having to install patches.

But even with the good comes the bad, people might be able to write computer virus'' that will update themselves as well. Maybe they might get to the point where they can write code to get around the anti virus'' (or the anti virus could do the same to the virus'' and be just as beneficial LOL).

Would be a weird world with Evolutionary Programming.

You could always try running it inside a bochs, so as not to destroy your current os setup...

Yeah, but bochs is slow. I figure a seperate account on a Linux system is safe enough, heh, unless a security hole is found which is very unlikely. Even a seperate Windows XP account that isn''t admin should be safe enough to protect the harddrive from harm.

Well thank you all for your good comments ;D
