Hello everyone, So far since my last posts things have gone quite well. There are now 2 C++ programmers, 1 python programmer (myself), a 2d/concept artist, and also a 3dmodeller animator for a machinima project. As a group we are in the middle of the concept phase for a simple 2d space sim arcade shooter. (all of this can be found @ http://www.enigmaentertainment.us, lots of info on the forums). As great as everything is going, I am looking for another Python programmer to join the team. Why? Cause i'm lonely! And i'd also like someone to work off of, back and forth, between projects. A C++/Python programmer would be even better, (as our projects will include both). Also, we could use more C++ programmers to join the team, experienced or not. Drop me a line @ the forums, or at any of the blow messengers so we can talk! ========= Just as a side bit, any modellers/3d artists/mappers interested in a machinima project? ========= EnigmaEntertainment is a not-aiming-to-get-rich-right-now group of learning developers. Call it a collaboration of those wishing to learn. Because you can write Python extension modules in C++, I suppose.

Or vice versa.

I''m not going to get into a huge C++ debate here, but as I see it...

C++ is great for things that need to happen fast, and often. 3dengines and the like.

But it''s much faster, easier, and more dynamic to program AI, scripting events, gameplay mechanics, etc in Python.

Lots of commercial games are doing this.. Coding the engine/physics in C++, then everything else in a scripting language, or something similiar.

You should check out Elmer. The author's presentation at PyConDC was impressive. The tool essentially does all the embedding for you.

Pyrex can prove very useful too.

And I assume you already know about boost::python and SWIG.

Actually I didn''t know about those.. Perhaps i''ll be able to save my own ass and not have to use C++ for our first project

Thanks a bunch!

Still want more programmers though. I know you guys exist!
