Mozilla Filemanager using XUL

Original Post
I'm somewhat sick of the resource hogging explorer. I've already migrated to BlackBox for windows, but I'm still stuck with that POS file manager that takes up 21 megs of memory! That is ridiculous! I'm going to create my own file manager, unless someone could point me in the direction of a decent one (or a plugin for firefox that would offer BETTER file browsing) Thank y'all
EDIT: THIS MEANS WAR! hehe

If you're going to write one in C#, I just put up a tut on my site that shows how to make a simple program that lets you look around the files on your drive and gives you info on files, like size, when it was created, etc. It wasn't meant to be an explorer replacement, but with work it could become something like that.
In the next tutorial I was going to show how to move/copy/delete files and add it to the first program, but you can go ahead and write that up yourself and add it to my start.
If you want, that is. At least it's a start if you can't find another one.
It weighs in at 9516K in my task manager, but that's because it doesn't do much yet
====================================
The worst thing about mistakes is explaining it to my wife.
My site, with some new content!

Well, thanks for the info, but I''m stuck in 98 with VC++ 6.0
So I''m going to use *GASP* C++! Haha. I''ve renamed this thread, because its now an official project. I''m going to create a file manager with all the my computer and control panel junk i can put in it, (i need control panel API resources...) and I REALLLY want to integrate the firefox (Powergecko on firesomething
) renderer into some sort of preview pane. I MUST GET RID OF ALL TRACES OF IE!

I will laugh so much if this project ends up taking more resources than MS''s does...
Ok, I urge ANYONE who uses mozilla to mess around with XUL. *DROOL*
A tutorial on XUL that is on the buttons and that. It is soooo cool! weeee

This sounds really interesting, I have a little bit of experience hacking some XUL, so maybe I''ll be able to help. Feel free to email me.
PS. Your email doesn''t seem to work.

my actual email is mirgatroid@hotmail.com
feel free to add me to your MSN list (if you have it)
i''m actually starting to get somewhere with XUL. It is almost TOO easy... The integration with the backend should be a challenge though. I think a mozilla browser/file manager combo will be awesome. Maybe i can integrate firefox as a desktop...mwahahahahaha
So long as there''s no cartoon puppy greeting me by default on that search program, have at it.

You''ll find that most useful programs take up a fair amount of memory; check what Firefox is using for example. 21Mb isn''t a whole lot in the grand scheme of things, why don''t you just buy some more memory which is dirt cheap now?
