How do you take a screenshot of a movie? (DivX movie, for example). I tried the good-old Print Screen, but it takes a screenshot of the movie itself. Meaning if I paste it into Photoshop, and run the movie, the movie actually runs in the Photoshop file. Why does this happen anyways? Elben

Windows is copying the HDC onto the clipboard, not the actual image. try pausing your movie, capturing the image, saving it, then do your editing.

I don''t think that works either, at least not with windows media player and a dvd. The dvd player I use is InterVideo WinDVD and it has screen capture feature that does the job.

PnP, I tried that already, but I see its the HDC that''s copied. I guess I''ll have to look for a program...

Know any? (I don''t have a DVD player, but I suppose WinDVD might be able to play AVI files, right?)

You have to turn off Hardware acceleration in the Display properties thing first. Otherwise you just get black.

Well, its black when you stop the video. If I play it, I can actually watch it in Paint or Photoshop!

Do as firahs says and turn off Hardware Acceleration under Control Panel->Display. After that, you may need to adjust a setting of Media Player as well... I just tried it and it was black in WMP (not the screenshot, the video itself) but Media Player Classic worked perfectly fine, and I could take screenshots from it.

Media Player Classic is mplayerc.exe.
