Can't view any https sites?

Has anyone had the problem of not being able to view https servers? This worked up to about 2 weeks ago and now I get page not displayed. This is not my computer but it''s running IE 6.0.26. I have a feeling it''s a setting in internet options somewhere but I have no idea where to start. Any help would be great. Nick

Your firewall could be blocking it. Made any changes to your security lately?

This is not my computer and the owner is a noob. I have just noticed another strange thing. When I click start and control panel explorer.exe dies and restarts every time.

This is the strangest thing in the world. The user has an antivirus that is up to date but no firewall. Every time I start up IE the home page changes to res://mshp.dll/index.html#37049.

Turns out the computer had that CW spyware/trojan.
I downloaded CWShredder and it fixed a lot of the problems except for the https thing.
