I didnt find out what 4:20 meant to people until I was 18. I asked a girl who was younger that went to school with me at the time and she looked at me like I was a complete dork for not knowing.

I must have fallen out of the loop on that one.

I found out what it was the first time I celebrated it... when I was 13.

420 is the police code for possession of Marijuana. Just like 187 is homicide. As a juvenile act of civil disobedience, stoners smoke pot on 4/20, at 4:20 and whenever they see that sequence of digits displayed. It''s been a tradition for so long that few people remember where it came from, and stoners especially (since they''re characteristically dumb) think that it''s a code Rastafarians made up or something. It''s a happy coincidence that Adolf Hitler was born on April twentieth.

It''s right up there with 69, as far as sophistication goes. A simple joke that amuses the living hell out of simple people. Not all people who smoke reefer are so pathetic, of course, but if you criticise my generalization, you''re ugly.

You wouldn't believe how many times I heard this today:

Idiot #1: "Hey [insert name of idiot #2 here], dude, you know what day it is right?"

Idiot #2: "Huh?"

Idiot #1: "4.20!"

Idiots #1 and #2: "HAHAhAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA."

Oddly enough, even a mere mention of the number 420 is enough to make idiots erupt into laughter. Unsurprisingly, my brother laughed his ass of every time he heard it mentioned today on the bus.

I really don't get it. Ok, go have your marijuana--I don't care. But saying the number 420 fifty times every class period and having half of the class errupt into laughter is just goddamn annoying.
