As for the rest of your post, who gives a crap? Slashdot has proven you can''t create a ''safe haven'' for nerds because nerds are just as big of assholes as the rest of the world. Learn to function outside of your parent''s bedroom and you may realize that you aren''t in the least bit special.

How do you tell if the person is a nerd or just a genius? I assume there is a difference between the two.

yes, i am one, my friends are nerds, ahnd nerds are either egotistical or withdrawn or esentric i find. i know my spelling is horid, but i have the philosphy that if you can read the words it''s ok, the human mind only reads somehting like the first 2 and last 2 charecters anyways.

Nerds take pride in their intellectualism. If you don''t even bother trying to spell correctly there is no chance in hell that anyone with half a brain on their shoulders would call you a nerd.

Agreed.

I think being overly smart is overrated anyway. I think people with good social skills can make better contacts and ultimately go further in the world.

or as some people might say. It isnt what you know its who you blow.

We had a long discussion in a racial justice class about that topic and our teacher along with the books we had to read had the same philosophy.

I said that becuase I honestly believe it, however, I am not even close to being a marketing major. I am a Biology major and hoepfully in about a year and a half I can call myself an ecologist.

EDIT: Point being, just because you can read it when it's spelled wrong, you should still spell it right, what do you find easiest to read? The above or:

According to a researcher at Cambridge University, it doesn't matter in what order the letters in a word are, the only important thing is that the first and last letter be at the right place. The rest can be a total mess and you can still read it without problem. This is because the human mind does not read every letter by itself but the word as a whole.
