Buggy search function

I''m beginning to wonder if there is something seriously wrong with the search function on this forum. I had heard about the release of the VS.net C++ compiler being released, and wanted to find some info on this, wondering whether it would be worth the download or not. I pressed "search" and typed in "Microsoft" and "Compiler", figuring that would be enough. I chose to limit the search to 30-days old and newer posts, since this is a relatively new release. The results? Nothing! I tried several different keywords, but I find nothing. Being an experienced googler, I find this rather strange. Am I doing something wrong, or is the search function extremely buggy? This isn''t the first time I''ve had problems with finding things on the forum.

Yes, the search function is known to be fairly eccentric. The new forums have a much better search features, but in the meantime, google does index much of the forums. So a search for "microsoft compiler site:gamedev.net" will turn up a few hits, including a blurb from the news section and at least four of the threads that were started in the forums.

The date limiter was for the actual original posting date for the topic. Searching without a date range works fine. Also, the search assumes the topic should contain *all* the keywords.

I modified it a bit so it may work better now.
