Hey all. I''m doing an eclipse plug-in to analyse code conventions (i now it has been done before!) for a school project. It envolves analysing formating, documentation, and general coding standards for Java. Like good and experienced programmers you all are, if you have any sugestion of something you would like to see done or some possible cool features, i''d love to hear some feedback thxs in advance

Ratio of code lines to comment lines. And perhaps mixed code/comment lines too. That the sort of feature you were thinking of?

You could check for indentation consistency...

Ratios would fall more in the line of sofwtare metrics, i believe. But there are a lot of conventions that say things like keep classes and methods small, wich is an obviuos aplication of a ratio. For example, lengths of names are on my list (either it''s variables or classes names).

About code formatting/identations, they are also on my plans. I think the best way to adress this problem is to have the option for the programmer to automaticly format the code in a certain way. (In this case, the plug-in wouldnt verify a convention, but would force it at request).

Thanks for the feedback guys.
