How hard would it be to make (or where to get) an audio transmitter and waterproof receiver set? I swim and there is nothing more boring then listening to bubbles and breathing. I know speedo made a radio that clipped on your suit because I used to have one. I want to make a box that I can plug a cd player into, maybe a microphone. And then have it broadcast to the swimmers. Coaches could give comments over it while the swimmer is still swimming. The receiver would have to be very low profile and water proof. Any ideas on where to start?

Building your own would probably be quite complicated, not to mention issues you may have with FCC regulations.

I''d suggest buying a legal 5-or-so-watt FM radio transmitter, then buying that spedo underwater radio or whatever.

Never even thought of that. They do make transmitters that transmit to a certain channel don''t they. The problem is the radio was hard as hell to get a station. There were 4 buttons: power, tune, vol+, and vol-. The tune would just loop around.

You are missing the easier solution. Water conducts sound better than air.

It would be easier to water proof a speaker and drop it into the pool than it would be to make a bunch of water proof receivers that everyone has to wear in their ears while trying to swim.

NAU has this exact setup, or so I''m told.
