I was wondering if anyone knew where i can get detailed documentation on BSP''s, how to compile, and read in compiled BSP''s. Also if anyone knows of any docs(good ones, not a 1 page doc) on Octrees. Octress to my current knowledge are similar to BSP''s except they split the world into Cubes that contain 8 inner cubes? Quad trees similar to Oct except 4
?
Also does anyone know why i would rather go with a BSP rather than an OCT or vice versa?
What should i use for indoor games/engines, and outdoor ones while keeping reasonable fast. For an engine i want to create i would want a nice outdoor environment that would sustain at least 40 fps with a PII 400 and a 16 mb OpenGL compatible card.
Next thing, how are these huge environments made? Obviously the whole level, lets say something like Final Fantasy 7 or 8, isnt loaded every single time the player goes out into the world. So how would i create such a world that is immense, AND doesnt create a hitch when a player walks around the world.
Also and books on 3D mathematics? Im pretty quick with math and able to pick up in the snap of a finger, so it doesnt matter if i need to learn calculus or not (differential). Trig i know but forgot some of the rules ( hey whatta you expect i took these classes years ago!)
What other types of Engine rendering can i use?( what i mean by rendering is BSP, OCT,QUAD, etc... i dunno if thats the right name that can be given) ive heard of something called ROAM.
What i mean by documents, again, is something along the lines of .pdf. I dont want short docs. Secondly i would also know if there are any documents that can show me how to read certain sound file types( i dont wanna use an API''s functions because, well, id like to learn too ya know) and then send that to the speakers.
