Hello everybody I am working with NVidias 3D Texture Extensions to perform Volume Visualization. I have a strange problem occuring when i try to do off screen rendering. Creating a Memory Device Context with CreateCompatibleDC and CreateCompatibleBitmap is no problem, but when i change the setting "PFD_DRAW_TO_WINDOW" to "PFD_DRAW_TO_BITMAP" in my PIXELFORMATDESCRIPTOR, windows is unable to load the "glTexImage3D" Extension. When choosing and setting pixelformat no error occurs, but when i try to get the function pointer via "wglGetProcAddress" it returns NULL. But with "PFD_DRAW_TO_WINDOW" everything is running fine. Has anybody experience with suche problems? thanx a lot Toby

That''s because if you use the draw to bitmap option, you''re using microsoft''s software renderer, which only supports GL 1.1, and very few extensions. If you want hardware acceleration then render to a window or a pbuffer and read the data back with glReadPixels.
