Just having a browse through the Quake 2 source i have noticed how very little graphics rendering code there is. It appears to be full of code working out non graphics related features. Am i right in saying that it is not programmed in directx, and also it is programmed in C not C++? regards, ace

Yes, Quake 2 uses C, and no it uses OpenGL instead of Direct3D. All of the graphics rendering code is encapsulated in the ref_* DLLs. ref_gl is the OpenGL renderer, and ref_soft is the software renderer.

You can find the two folders in the quake2-3.21 (or some such) folder of the source zip.
