Hey, in my game, I currently use windows message to detect input... But right now, I started designing a chat system for my game ( as it is multiplayer )... The problem now is that with windows I''m only able to get the basic caracters... I can get all the letters+numbers and I can check if SHIFT is pressed for capital letters... but that''s all, I don''t know how to receive all the special caracters... The list of keys I can get from the virtual key codes is not really big ( see this ) So I would like to know if someone could tell me a way to handle all those caracters with windows message? Or even better, if someone would know an alternative for handling Input.. something better? (But no DirectInput, please) Thanks a lot

GetAsyncKeyState() maybe? GetKeyboardState()? That''s what i''d use.
Everything is better with Metal.

Why not Directinput exactly?

I believe SDL also has input handling.

For chat/text input it''s better to use windows messages and not DirectInput because it can cope better with foreign keyboards and key combinations. Anything wrong with the Win32 standard ''TranslateMessage'' input?
