so i am trying to learn graphical programming with c++ on windows 2k. i decided to use sdl because it sounds like it''s right for my level of experience. i found some tutorials like cone3d and whatnot. the tutorials are great for showing me how to do specifically what it teaches. but what i would like is a reference place. some place that says this function or command does this, and maybe explain some of the basics of SDL. Like now i can load different images and get them to move around, but that is because i copy and paste the code i find, i don''t really understand it or atleast not as well as i''d like too, anyways is there a place on the net that has this or am i asking for too much. thanks for any help

are you talking about http://www.libsdl.org I looked at their tutorials and they are not very good. first off half of them are in german or some other language and the few that are in english are either not for c++ or else their not very good anyways. is there no real place on the net that is good for picking up graphical programming. nehe is the same way to me. i can do exactly what they do but i haven''t learned enough to do anything on my own. i''ve done plenty of searches online and i feel like i''ve hit a dead end. help please.

Cone3D is probably the best place to start off with SDL, anything you don;t learn from there you can pick up from the SDL docs.

since i''ve decided there are no really good tutorials out there for me i''ve decided that i must buy a book to learn graphics. but if i''m going to buy a book i''m wondering then, should i just skip sdl all together and start off learning opengl or stay with sdl. What are your recomendations
