I am working on my first game a 2 player online version of pong. The game is pretty much playable but still have much to work on. The problem is that I notice that it only connects to certain people and times out when I try to connect to others. I think it may have something to do with the TTL on the packets but I can tbe sure. Has this ever happened to anyone? If so how did you fix it? thanks The game is available here http://www.freewebs.com/try_catch_this/oglpong.zip

The default TTL is high enough for any connection anywhere on the planet. Don''t worry about it.

The problem is likely that you, or they, are behind a firewall that isn''t set up to forward incoming connections.

nat-punch has references for possible work-arounds (but it''s pretty advanced stuff).

Thanks for the reply I will look it up. I think it might have something to do with the isp but I am not sure.

It works with some people but not with others. I and nowreviewing the error checking that I have on all my socket operations.

This is so fustrating and since I am only able to connect to a few people I can hardly test the game.
