it has come to my attention that not every one thinks the way i do. when i listen to my brain, i have 4 voices. the first one, is so fast i can''t here it, but it tells me what to do. the second voice is just like the first one, but it comes into play a little bit afterwards the first one, it''s a bit slower. i don''t think that the first two voices are in english, thier two fast to hear, but i know what thier telling me. the third one is like some one speaking realy quickly. it''s actuly in english. this is the voice i hear when i''m doing something i have trouble with. the fourth voice is what i hear beforei speak, like the words in my head before i say or type them. also, i always see stuff in my head. ussaly it''s what i''m looking at, and what i plan to be doing, but i can think about anything with any of my ''voices'' and thier it is being visualized. i can''t realy see it, it''s like i have two sets of eyes. how do you guys think?

i''ve been to 23, three mental institutes, and have taken nearly 30 differnet kidns of medications. at one time i was poping 13 pills at once. none of it helped. what helpped me the most was to stop seeing psycytrist and stop taking meditation and sitting down and meditating.

What about that voice that tells us to kill all our friends before they have a chance to kill us?

Most of the time I use dialogue to think, but it''s often accompanied by visuals.

While i wouldnt say I have ''voices which think for me'', whenever i''m considering something I do have normally 2 or more (depending on the complexity of the subject at hand) ''voices'' which i use to ''discuss'' the thoughts i''m having, also while typing like i am now i''m thinking the works as i type (which leads to chaos if my thoughts get ahead of my fingers, hehe).

I''ve also taken to wandering the streets at 5am muttering to myself, but i think thats more of a sign of my unbalanced mind than how i think

I have those "debates" in my head as well, but the muttering I don''t (as far as I know). This brings to mind something I read once:

Be careful what you think; thoughts turn into words.
Be careful what you say; words turn into actions.
Be careful of your actions; actions turn into habits.
Be careful of your habits; habits create character.
Be careful of your character; character turns into destiny.

That''s an interesting question .. I''ve found that my mind is mostly visual. That''s why sometimes when I try to explain something that I think about, I can''t always find the right words to describe it. Most of the time when I come up with an idea, it''s an image or visual.

Same, except with strong "day-dreaming" visuals. Even when reading, I have dialogue in my head (of course), but I always get lost in my "day-dreaming" state. That's why I can get lost in a book so easily. It's great.

By the way, crazy man, the "other set of eyes" that you describe is, in fact, your mind's eye. These other voices are deffinately strange, but as long as they don't start telling you to kill people (you know - "Everbody is against you, see that person? They want to kill you! Kill them first!" or some crazy shit like that), you should be fine.

It seems these 23 psychiatrists couldn't do shit, so as long as you aren't harming yourself or other people, what's wrong with how you're living you're life now?

/agree

I sometimes have thoughts that run through my head WAY to fast to process what is going on. I''ve always called it "mind chatter" and it frequently keeps me up at night o_O; It''s not actually hearing voices, but simply rapid thought processes and/or thoughts that all revolve around one subject that I can''t get out of my mind no matter what I try.

Heck, sometimes I can''t stop counting in my mind! Just incessantly counting from 1 to 100 over and over again.

I whole-heartedly suggest you try smoking marijuana: it has been shown to produce brainwave patterns similar to those produced by extremelly deep meditation sessions. Also, it will relax your mind-chatter and allow your brain some "quiet-time". Take it at night, go to bed relaxed and wake up refreshed.

Or stop drinking caffeinated beverages.

i have three voices:

(1) me (internal) - this voice is my conscious thought, for when i am thinking about stuff...

(2) evil - this voice suggests horrible things i could do, such as stealing, killing, etc...

(3) rude - this voice is pissed at the world, and makes sarcastic and rude comments about everything that catches its attention...

generally speaking, i don''t listen to "evil", because i know it is evil. i let rude have some fun though, because i enjoy the results.

it is often speculated that modern humans cannot think anything useful without using words. The problem is, you can''t test that theory, because as soon as you start to describe what it''s like to think without words, YOU''RE THINKING WITH WORDS!!!

Might have something to do with my dyslexia, I think more or less entirely visually, very little in words, and even then, that's practically visual ;p

Solving a problem? I stare at the problem and shifting all the little symbols around, or think geometrically in my head. I don't like words, but sometimes they appear to be needed to justify something

OCD?

Maybe, but a mild case of it if at all...I would classify it as a "quirk"

I never ingest caffeine 6-7 hours before my bedtime, which is 2-3 more then is required to remove all effects from my system from what I understand.

Maybe I need to stop smoking crack... J/k
