Has anyone seen Van Helsing yet?? I really want to see it but I havent had time to go. I think it looks really good but most of the reviews i''ve seen said it wasn''t that great. Tell me what you think.

Last time I checked it had a 25% on rotten tomatoes. But most people I''ve talked said some parts were awesome but it was too long and pretty cheesy. I''m going to see it tomorrow.

If you have read Brahm Stoker''s Dracula, you will want to gouge out your eyes with a straw. I hope there is an x-man 3 planed, otherwise Hugh Jackman may be out of work.

I guess from a critical point of view its not a great movie. It is a slightly wierd movie also. But it mainly is a movie that you have to appreciate for the really cool parts, and not be overly critical that the story isnt perfect or anything. Its just a good movie to see and be like "Wow that was fun to watch" (NOT TO THINK ABOUT).

Also, Kate Beckinsale is dead sexy.

the movie sucked, I saw it last night.

It was a complete ripoff of a james bond movie, if you can believe it. There was even a Q-Lab scene and "high tech" weaponry.

I'm sorry, but chicks from eastern europe just aren't that hot.

Let's not forget the bad CG (not quite as bad as League of Extrodinary Geriatrics). Dr. Jekyll was SLIGHTLY more believable than that putty man from LXG, but not by much. After Gollum in LotR, I'm sorry, there is no excuse to have unbelievable CG characters. I almost laughed the first time Dracula grew his fangs and bit someone, the cartoonness of the transformation was histerical.

Hugh Jackman was great, though he did play Van Helsing almost exactly like he played Wolverine. Not complaining though, he portrays kickass characters really well.

However, the rest of the cast SUCKED!!! Forced lines, contrived lines, melodramatic lines, absolute SHIT lines. The main female interest of the movie (Anna I think, I don't know, I've forgotten the names), was an absolute dipshit, one of the worst actresses with the worst fake accent I have ever heard. And like I said, way to hot to be an east european.

The brides of dracula were SO ANNOYING!!! Everytime you saw them on the screen, they were screaming. They almost never stopped screaming, and it was like they were trying to put accent on the screaming itself. The screaming, the screaming, the screaming. It was so forced. It was like they were, themselves, annoyed by all the screaming, like they weren't even trying.

The scene in the dungeon of the vatican was rediculous. All the Muslim and Buhdist scientists running around was really retarded, catholics were all about TORTURING those people back then.

What the hell was with the flying horses? That was never explained.

Stupid ending. I almost feel like spoiling it, just because of how bad the movie is.

what's with Kate Beckinsale doing Vampire and Werewolf movies lately?

Kate Beckinsale, she of Underworld fame.

I''ve heard bad things about the movie, and the blame was put squarely on the director''s shoulders.

I say it was pretty good; I mean, it was enjoyable. There are certainly many lines to be drawn between this movie and LXG, namely the cast of famous monsters/characters drawn from different works of literature. There were definetly a lot of cheesy parts. A lot of the machinery and weapons used I thought were EXTREMELEY cheesy. The gas powered cross bow and a the "light grenade" the monk made are good examples. Dracula''s machine is also ridiculous. So was Frankenstein and his glowing heart and brain.

The harpies (or technically brides of Dracula) I must say were kind of annoying (in their monster form; they were very hot in female from ) They did scream a lot and whatnot. The harpies themselves looked very odd without nipples or something covering that area; just a random observation.

Kate Beckinsale was extremely hot though, but the accent was annoying.

Hugh Jackman was what you would expect for the character; I think he did a good job with it.

Ending is not what I expected, that''s all I''ll say.

It sounds like I have nothing good to say, but it actually was an enjoyable experience. Maybe would be more worth it to see in the bargain theater or a rental.

I just saw this movie and I liked it. Granted I went into it knowing it would be retarded. But for what it was it was entertaining. The title of the movie should have been ''Werewolf vs Dracula'' though. I''m glad movies like this can get made nowadays. Wolfman, Dracula, Dr Jeckyll/Mr Hyde, the Frankenstein monster and a character from Bram Stokers Dracula - This movie rocked! Not to mention little people actors got to work... Its always good to see them get work.

He who disses a hot brunette running around in spike heels, a leather bustier, and thigh high boots should be cursed to spend their lives in celibacy.

However, it was a toss up who had prettier hair; Jackman or the dame.

I think he meant in real life; Kate isn''t from Eastern Europe AFAIK. I doubt any straight guy could look at Kate and not think that she is hot

well, youd have to take into account the millions she has pumped into her appearance. hardly comparable to a 45 year old woman working in a sweatshop.

"Oh, I''ve never seen the sea.."

Accents were atrocious, and I could swear I saw townspeople in blue jeans.

The actor who played Dracula was about on par with a grade-school production. They could have put in a CG Count from Sesame Street and it would have been better ("Vun... two.. three crucifixes! HA!").

Eastern European women can be very pretty.

I heard someone say that the myth that they aren''t stems from the time of the iron curtain, when we only saw the ones who competed in tournaments and who would all be using steroids.

What myth? You actually know people who agree with capn_midnight? I thought they were like the elusive people who voted for Bush -I have never met anyone from either group.

I can''t actually recall ever meeting one either, but I''ve seen it mentioned several times on the internet.

eh, just the preview pissed me off (c''mon, van helsing was an old guy who fought dracula without any wacky gadgets, the other monsters are from completely different stories)... it might be acceptable if it was a scooby-doo episode or something...

Van Helsing was fiction. Fiction is open to reinterpretation.

I mean, Smallville isn''t entirely consistent with the legend of Superman, nor is the Superman lore consistent unto itself through the ages.

Stop with this bullshit fighting over which country has the hottest women. We all know that Asian women are the best. END OF THE FUCKING STORY.

As for the movie, it was meh. I fell asleep for a few minutes during a few of the fighting scenes, and I didn''t even do that during Matrix Reloaded or Matrix Revolutions, which have the longest fight scenese EVAR. The story and some of the acting was a bit cheesy, too, but oh well. I took my mom to see it for Mother''s Day, and she enjoyed it, so that''s all that matters.
