Transformers Game!!!

Heard plenty, virtually all of it good. Pretty tight development cycle. Gameplay videos look good. Nicely story-driven, even if it is centered around Transformers: Armada.

Massive environments, laid out such that "anywhere you see can be reached" (according to lead). Ability to transform at any time, so you can turn from a robot into a Mac truck as Optimus Prime and ram your enemy off a precipice.

Basically, sounds good.

I dunno; I''ve seen the trailers and it looks pretty generic. Can''t say I care, but if it''s coming out for GameCube, maybe I''ll check it out.

It''s already out on ps2. I work at Game Crazy and we have been selling it since last week.

It was reviewed in last months Edge here, and received a pretty good score IIRC. However its PS2 only.

Damn right! and screw this Armada/Beast Wars/whatever crap! I want to see old school Megatron and Prime kicking each others asses (preferably with original voice cast), and if it''s possible for Unicron to make an appearence somewhere in there, so much the better, (although rendering an enemy the size of a planet in any kinda detail may prove somewhat difficult ).
And goddamnit, if you can''t play as Grimlock, what''s the point? Lucas has already fucked with my childhood enough, which is why I point blank refuse to watch Armada/ [/rant]

The C64 version was much, much better. The fact that you had the 2nd side of the disk devoted to the intro *which had voice over* was amazing.

Unicrom''s in the game in some capacity. Check out the videos at Gamespot.

Actually, the ass-raping of G1 continuity is kind of pissing me off. Unicron is DEAD. So are Optimus and Megs for that matter; let''s have some new leaders for a change. I would have liked to have seen how Rodimus Prime ultimately turned out, even though he started out kind of wimpy and sucky. Let''s quit with things like The War Within; it could have been decent, but had a lousy resolution and probably messed up continuity a fair bit.

Unicron belongs in a G1 game. Armada needs new ideas.

Last year, on TechTV''s X-Play, they went to the Tokyo Game Show and they were looking at a generation one game, but they said that there were no plans for it to come to North America.

Remember that this game is a game company''s interpretation of the Transformformers universe. It''s like how the recent DBZ games are Atari''s interpretation of the DBZ universe--not Akira Toriyama''s. So 23yrold3yrold has a legitimate excuse.

Speaking of the Tokyo Game Show, I am going to go back to Japan for it this fall!!! Followed by my regular rounds of secret back door shops in Akihabara that normal tourists don''t know about.

Thanks for getting me excited again, although it''s a little ways off.

Back on topic: Since the TGS is only in the Fall, my guess is that G1 game was canned a while back since there has not been much news about it, and it was demo''ed that long ago.
