I always forget names and stuff after a while, and I don''t think it''s normal for my age (21). SO.... I''m looking for a memory training method, any ideas?

i used to know some, but i cant remember them off hand...

on a more serious note, i find that associating names with times/places/other people helps me remember them in some freaky web-memory style manner, its pretty much automatic now and i''ve not forgotten the name of anyone i''ve met recently (used to be a big problem it was like ''hi this is john'', ''hi john'' *10seconds later* ''crap, forgotten his name'')

The big one they say is simply to repeat their name when you hear it:

Them: Hi, I''m John.
You: Hi, nice to meet you John.

Another if you really have trouble is a name association game. For instance, if John is a happy, cheerful character, you can remember him as "Jolly John". Physical features are the easiest for remembering, just remember not to call them by their associated trait!

I''ve never really tried the latter, it''s just one I hear alot.

I have the same problem and I would''t worry about it unless you plan on making a lot of friends, having people like you or it''s required for your job.
If you don''t have problems remebering other things then there is nothing wrong with you probably like me you just interested in a lot of other things than remebering people''s names. In other words you really don''t give a shit about people so you don''t make effort to remeber names. Remeber like others posted for most people it does take effort remebering names. I remeber reading a story about some bigshot college president that was walking around campus one day and was embarrased by some student cuz he couldn''t remeber their name so from that day forth he made it a habit to try to remeber each students names and later on he became famous for it. anyways he was popular cuz he remebered everyone''s name.
Anyways if you serious here''s some tips from the world memory champion and as you''ll see it''s mostly just making an effort which I''ve never gotten around to.
names and faces
p.s. even the few famous people in history that has photographic memories when asked how they did it said that they really had to like something to remeber it. The more they liked it the easier it was to remember for them. hence the problems a lot of people have with tests in school cuz they trying to memorize stuff they don''t care about.

That would work, except for programmers:

"Hi, I''m Bald Bill, and this is Fat Andy, Fat Fred, and Herpes Harry."

I can''t remember names worth sh*t. I wouldn''t worry about it. If they need something, they''ll come to you, and if you need them, shouting ''Hey, you, get your ass over here'' works pretty well.
Chess is played by three people. Two people play the game; the third provides moral support for the pawns. The object of the game is to kill your opponent by flinging captured pieces at his head. Since the only piece that can be killed is a pawn, the two armies agree to meet in a pawn-infested area (or even a pawn shop) and kill as many pawns as possible in the crossfire. If the game goes on for an hour, one player may legally attempt to gouge out the other

I happen to be able to remember names and phone numbers, and probably some other irrelevant info (individual birthdays, etc) without having to write them down
