What the hell is that and why is my workplace IP on their list? What I mean is that my workplace is a gatway for ~150 students who are most likely producing a lot of infected email (and I can''t contain it right now), and because of this CBL no one can any longer send email. This sucks because I as the sysadmin am under attack by these 150 or so students. How did the IP get on their list an, more importantly, how the hell can they block all of the outgoing email!?

The CBL takes its source data from very large spamtraps, and only lists IPs exhibiting characteristics which are specific to open proxies of various sorts (HTTP, socks, AnalogX, wingate etc) which have been abused to send spam, worms/viruses that do their own direct mail transmission, or some types of trojan-horse or "stealth" spamware, without doing open proxy tests of any kind.

Given that they do not allow direct nomination of ip ranges etc for inclusion you pretty much have to be infected or have been the target of a malicious user to get on the list.

There are many free antiviral solutions. If you can''t prevent virus ridden clients from propagating infections then drop in a firewall to perform egress filtering, and set up a proxy server.

This is really basic network admin stuff.
