Hi, I was just wandering if it is possible to take an executable along with all libraries it is dynamically linked to and create a static version? I can''t see why this shouldn''t be possible as it is essentially what happens when the executable loaded into memory and run yet I''ve never heard of it being done before. I hope I''ve explained what I want to do clearly enough and I would really appreciate any info anyone can give me on this subject, thanks in advance, Tom

Possible? Most probably, however, it would be more complicated than you expect.

Your program is linked with windows libraries that allow the OS to access the code in DLLs, most probably through function pointers. The DLL itself is also linked to other libraries... So in order to make this work, you would need to decompile the code to see how its associated with the OS libraries in order to request access to those dynamic libraries... And find a way to bring the DLL code in your program, without corrupting it, and perform the linking.

Possible? Yes, but also very hard... You could develop software to do that, but it would be alot of work... For something people wouldnt use.... Better just recompile your code.
