I''m just starting OpenGL; and was trying a NeHe Lesson (albeit a modifyed one) in Linux The program should be making the object rotate on the Y-axis; but it will only advance to the next frame of rotation if the mouse hovers over one of the window buttons (like minimize) and then moves back onto the window. I think it must be some kind of refresh or redraw problem; but I can''t seem to fix it. Thanks for your time! -Chance

Sounds like the code which handles your rendering has been accidentally tied to the code handling messaging. Therefore, the rendering only occurs when your program recieves messages. However, I wrote this thinking of Win32, completely forgetting you're using Linux. I'm not sure how Linux works, so I can't advise you any more...

My opinion is a recombination and regurgitation of the opinions of those around me. I bring nothing new to the table, and as such, can be safely ignored.[ Useful things - Firefox | GLee | Boost | DevIL ]

Well youre probably using SDL(or something else? qt or the like) so check your main game loop and make sure it continuously renders even when no event messages are received.
How bout'' you post the main game loop here.

I have solved the problem; only to come across another. The problem was that the displayfunction was not flagging that the scene needed to be redrawn. Now I''ve got issues with rotating a 3d cone about its point: but I can probably struggle though that too.

Thanks!
