can i get some help with one of the tuturials. i cant get it to compile and have spent hours trying. the tuturial is this one http://www.gamedev.net/reference/articles/article1196.asp it has these include files #include "D3DTextr.h" #include "D3DUtil.h" #include "D3DMath.h" #include "D3DApp.h" #include "D3DFile.h" #include "dinput.h" that the compiler cant find. i was wondering if someone could tell me how i can get it to find these files or mabe even someone try and get the tuturial working on there computer and tell me how they did it or something. the tuturial seems to be made in directx7 and when i tried like using some of the functions in a directx9 assignment i had it was saying like this function doesn''t exist ect. can someone help

That''s a pretty old tutorial, and the files you mention are in the DX7 SDK. Do you have that?

I recommend skipping this tutorial for now. Although it has nice information about X files, it''s based on DX7, which isn''t up-to-date.

well can someone suggest a different tuturial where it has it loading a x file, and has the different groups rotating...

X File tutorials are a bit sparse, I think. There are a couple on GDNet, and a couple on Flipcode. Tried the docs? (While not a *tutorial*, it can be of help)

Those files are helper files included with the SDK, but NOT part of the standard Includes. If you poke around you will find a Common directory in the SDK install that has those files.

www.andypike.com has .x tutorials (well maybe not dedicated to just .x files, but they load, display, and use various matrixes to alter the models). check it out and see if it's what you're looking for.

edit: directx8 tutorials. Which, I'm told doesn't differ that much from DX9 (save the advanced stuff of course).
