Hi all, I know its been discussed quite a lot in these boards but I need a basic explaination of how you''d make a First Person type camera system. I am using OpenGL. I tried just changing the X and Y rotations with the mouse movement but obviously this isn''t gonna work as it needs to rotate around the Z as well. doesn''t it? So i am at the stage where it can read in the mouse and alter things with this value but how do you determine how much to alter the x and z rotation by? Thanks in advance for any help

yes and no, its pretty much what i have at the moment and it goes all wonky. I need sorta an explaination about how you do the matrices and stuff, i''ve done 3d graphics maths at uni so i just need it sorta better explained how to go about it. Cheers

Cheers, I''ll need to look at my old lecture notes and find out about the matrices and stuff again. If anyone has any further help it''d be much appreciated

Yeah.. if you''re going to use sine and cosine with the matrices (which you will), then don''t forget which cartesian coordinate system you''re using (right or left). Everything could end up backwards or worse, just plain wrong depending on the rotation of the circle along whichever axis.
