I''ve started programming in Direct3D9 and I''m now onto 3D graphics!!! Yay! No more 2D coords for me! Anyways, I''m looking at heightmaps. I''ve looked at hundreds of tutorials but they all assume you know the basics... which i\I obviously do not. I don''t want tutorials about how to add LOD or shadow maps or anything, I just want to render a flat-shaded heightmap and optimize it and everything myself. Well, Ok I can render it. I just can''t get it from int Height[x][y] to LPDIRECT3D9VERTEXBUFFER. So... I''m willing to pass up sexual favours for infomation... AHem. [edited by - Me about five minutes ago]

Yeah... I was hoping for DirectX (hence the choice of forum topic) and as I don''t actually know any OpenGL I can''t convert it.
I think I''m onto something though in my... experimental program...

Ahh..I''m sorry, my memory seemed to indicate the article was in DX. Check out what Andy Pike says about the topic. It''s DX8, though (not much different from 9 for what you need to do).

You might also try Mr Snow''s tutorials. They''re for DX8, and one of them handles terrain. The english is so awful though, that I''m not sure the article points to the one you need

Not really...The theory is the same, and there are very little differences in practice.
