Yeah - that''s basically it. Looking for more things/features to add; can''t think of any yet.
Features:
-Terrain randomly created using 2 superimposed sineosoidal functions - one for the x-axis and one for the z. Y values obtained by adding the two.
-Light flickers like a candle, causing the lamp shade to flicker as well (inversed the normals on the mesh, pain in the)
-Particle engine on the light so occasionally small sparks will rise up and float away. Still tweaking the particle texture so I was reluctant to post any pics with a particle in it.
-As for the grass, there are 90,000 blades, but only 60,000 are rendered per pass (culled because of line-of-sight). The grass, by far eats up the majority of the fps. I''m tweaking the algorithm for initializing the grass because right now when you exit one of the nine "grass quads" it recalculates all nine quads. Same with the terrain, but that''s not so much a problem because it''s only 30*30 vertices. Oh, the grass itself is drawn with a line list, 10,000 blades per "grass quad", with random texture coordinates for the same texture as the ground.
-And no, the grass does not move. Notice the framerate is still 30+; trying to keep it that way
Err.. and by "grass quad" I mean how the grass is grouped - since I''m using VB6 my arrays are limited to, I think something a little above 20000*26 (damn...was it bits or bytes?!?) But whatever. The end result is that I have to display the grass in 9 quads:
------------- | | | | ------------- | | O | | ------------- | | | | -------------O = observer. So basically when the observer moves out of the central quad it redraws all of them around the observer. I''m optimizing this so it "moves" the quads which are out of range and recalculates them where they need to be, thus reducing the time required by 60%. Should help some when moving around. So, anyway, I have all this and am looking for more things to add. I''m not much of an artist, but I was thinking of getting a starry texture to make a skybox out of or something like that. Can''t really think of anything to do with it! Any ideas at all?

Yes... VB6 is here to steal your
Call .optimize(you.sig)
