When I cold boot my computer, any attached hard drives let a few clicks during normal boot up and when it''s loading Windows, the computer freezes. I have to do a few resets until the computer boots up properly. Sometimes important system files get corrupted during this operation, forcing a reinstall. Oh, and warm boot doesn''t cause trouble at all.
And the newest problem was - don''t know if it''s related or not - when I installed F-secure antivirus. When it was installed, the computer would just keep rebooting itself over and over, never loading up properly. I had to boot into safe mode and remove F-secure, which fixed the problem.
Now I''m suspecting it''s either my motherboard or my power supply. Is there a way to test which one it is without fancy equipment? Or could it be something else?
