Can''t they just pay 5 USD/month and get a real website?

You need a credit card and a job. Two things they don''t have.

I think you can pay by check too.
And it''s really inexpensive, some webhosting companies will host your site for a mere 50 USD/year, as long as you don''t do too much traffic.

angelfire has free hosting where you get 20mb and no upload size limit, plus free ftp access. I used it to host a 20mb video file and then linked it to my other site.

Some hosting companies offer paypal as an alternate. I use 1and1 for the domain ($6/year) and 1Portfolio for hosting ($8/year). Surely you can find somewhere to get $14 each year.

Once you buy hosting, you''ll never go back to free. It''s just too blasted convenient, especially if you setup a PHP upload script, so you don''t even have to open your FTP client for quick image uploading and hot linking.

Agreed. I''ll never use a free setup ever again. When people see a site hosted on angelfire or any other one, they also think lower of the site (well, it happens to me).

I agree with that. Not to mention you can link images from a paid site, and with prices as low as these, how can you beat it!?
