THAT SUCKED!!! I meant to post this, but I accidentally hit clear fields instead, someone should fix that!!!! (the buttons are right next to eachother) anyways, the jist of what I just erased was: I was just reading the VB to C++ thread, and this struck me as incredibly dumb: why would M$ make a 128MB download for the DX SDK? I know high speed connections are becoming more common now, but that''s really big for the ordinary user. Wouldn''t it be better to make like four 32MB downloads instead, or have an option of doing it that way? My reasons are twofold: 1) for me that would take ~11 hours to dl at 12MB/hr. This could barely be done between the hours of 10:00 pm and 9:00 am, which around here are the hours that you usually don''t call people except for emergencies, and 2) if your connection is severed, it may or may not start over in the same spot, thus the possibility of 2 nights of downloading instead of one. Also, I questions about the DX7 SDK. First, what would it do for me? I know that an SDK is a software development kit, but what exactly does that entail? Is it more than just example code? And also, would I still be able to compile DX6 code, cause I''m using TOTWGPG? And my last question which is completely unrelated, in my last sentence in the above paragraph, would it be gramatically correct to end it with a question mark or a period? because the question was in the first half of the sentence and a statement of fact came after it, or should I have divided it into two sentences? thanks folks, -arsenius after three days without programming, life becomes meaningless

First of all, fix your quote

Microsoft made it available for download because there are people who do NOT want to buy the CD. DirectX comes in the mail to registered users. It wasn''t really intended to non-registered users.

I use Go!zilla to get my downloads. That allows me to stop and resume them any number of times, and it allows me to switch sites in the middle of a download to a faster server. Totally cool program.

The SDK is tutorials and samples primarily. The tutorials were of more use to me than a book called Inside Direct3D, which may not be saying much.

The question mark was correct. The last part of the sentence was just a modifying clause.
