Well Now, I know you''ve probably all been asked this a lot but I''ll try anyway. Is Diablo 2, 2D or 3D. I think it''s an expertly done 2D setting. Of course I could very likely be wrong. Just curious. STVOY Mega Moh Mine!!

I believe it''s 2D, but uses D3D for spell effects.

If its really 3d you can see more of the side of objects when the are at the side of the screen, but still on the same y coord and facing the same direction. If its 2d the image just gets shifted to the side.
For a good time hit Alt-F4! Go ahead try it, all the cool people are doing it.

The characters are probably are done w/ a 3d modeler, aren''t they? That''s why they look pretty realistic.

Definetly 2D, but it looks a little 3D ingame because of "parralax scrolling" or something. Those modelers are top noth at Bliz, ever see those cinemas? ''Nuff said.

It''s 2D unless you put it in perspective mode... Check the Arcane Sanctuarry, if you can do that in 3D then I would love to see it

It's 2D, though they use Direct3D for some of the lighting effects. IMO the character models are the absolute worst -- they're way more blocky than they were in Diablo 1, and they STILL don't accurately reflect what you're wearing (which is to be expected with 2D stuff). Someone suggested that they should have modeled the claracters in Direct3D so the armor, etc. could have been textured. Perhaps in D3

Oh, they kind of faked 3D-ness in some ways by supporting multilevel maps. It isn't "true" 3D, it's a trick like in Duke Nukem 3D.

I think it''s basically 2D. They used Direct3D for, I believe, the spell effects, and as Peon mentioned, for "Parallex scrolling" which is intended to give the illusion of depth.
