Actually I find playing a good game gives me incentive, ''cause it inspires me to try different things.

It''s weird, cause it''s like, after watching a football game, i wanna play football, so after playing a game, I wanna code. I guess playing games just feeds the inner desire to go out and make a great game yourself. usually the feeling wears off after a few days so it''s like a neverending cycle for me

Yeah, Gaiden that''s it exactly. When I play a good game I want to make my own.

You should probably know that depression (in any form) causes a lack of motivation... at the beginning of summer, I used to code for hours every day. Now, I''m lucky to manage 15 minutes a week.

I''ve found that sometimes not getting enough sleep helps. If I''m too awake I don''t feel like programming and sometimes even find it boring *gasp*. But when I''m tired I''m less concious and like doing simple tasks that don''t require much concentration. It''s a good thing I can almost program in my sleep.

Also as I''ve said in another post sometimes eating salty food brings up the electrolytes and helps make things clearer.
For a good time hit Alt-F4! Go ahead try it, all the cool people are doing it.

Very true, johnnyfish. I was coding like crazy til about 3 monts ago when I realized I wouldn''t be able to transfer to a university and i''d have to wait another 4 months. Then I became pretty depressed and didn''t code much. Now I am cool about it and am coding again

I always set a deadline for myself. Something that''s unreachable. For some odd reason it doesn''t get reached, but I get a lot of work done.

If I don''t feel like coding for some odd reason, I always change my mind after I''ve been doing it for about five minutes. I just tell myself I''m going to add one little thing and see if it works, but then when I get into it, I can''t help but going at it for hours, even if it''s something I don''t particularly like working on (like a menu system for an RPG, ecch). Even with that stuff that isn''t as fun to write... I just love seeing it all come together when everything''s done and working properly.

Sometimes after playing a game, I feel like coding (even if it''s a boring text app) or some music, depending on the type / beat.
