I''m currently working on making a 3d platform fighting game, similiar to 3d version of the old school Double Dragon. Shameless plug (http://ravenous.dhs.org/psyche/ or hyperlink: don''t know if this board accept html), anyways. I need to make a simple indoor outdoor engine. Any suggestions? - Derek

If you''re making a double dragon like game, then you really just need a good indoor engine. This assumes you''re not walking in a gigantic 3d terrain, but are walking in a 3d sidescrolling environment.

If it''s to look like those old 2d games, but the background is now 3d and intarctive, even a landscape is nothing but a floor, and a wall that draws your background, and you can write one good engine that''s made for what you are doing. I.e. one wall, one complex floor, and many objects strewn about.

If you need good outdoor and indoor, what''s best is to either write two engines, and switch when entering a building, or using a general datastructure like an octree since it can be used quite effectively for both indoor and outdoor. Neither your indoor nor your outdoor will get max performance, but overall it would be easy to code.

Hope that helps a bit

You can made a easy (and fast) resident evil 2 enginer (for the scene). And left many polygon for the players.
