I''d guess it refers to OLE Automation, which is a MS technology that deals with a scripting language (normally VB or JScript) calling COM objects. Run it in a debugger and when it pops up the error - break and take a look at your stack. Your last call to a COM interface or Win32 API is what''s causing the problem, most likely.

Yeah, vladg is right. In my extensive experience of Automation Errors, and I''ve caused a hell of a lot of them in my job as a VB(as in the language not the buffer) programmer, it is generally because you are trying to use a COM object that has crashed or your instruction crashed it. It could be an OCX, DLL or ActiveX EXE.

When you alt-tab you change which application has the focus, and you may find that whatever API you are using doesn''t like this and just crashes, I seem to remember that DX will do this. If you are using DX then the examples in the SDK show how to handle this change.
