Hi, I am working on a game for school and I load md2 models & 3ds models into the world.. but the problem are, is it any limit on how many objects the opengl can render at once? it sounds stupid to me but when I loads 3 3ds models I can only load 5 md2 models else it crashes, but if I don't load any 3ds models I can have like 25 md2 models if I load more then that it crashes, does this depend on the computer or the loaders?... thx.

Use regular HTML image tags. People generally dont appreciate larger images though, its best to link to anything decently large. (mostly for the dialup people).

Info on tags that can be used and the like can be found in the forum FAQ.

The only limit that OpenGL or Direct3D would place on object count is based on on-card resources. However, most of the APIs can manage data, so that system memory is the resource limitation that counts, and you're un-likely to run out anytime soon.

Think about it: games use OpenGL or Direct3D. You don't see them crashing after 5 loaded items.

It's very likely there's either a memory corruption/buffer overrun problem in your code, or in the loader libraries you're using. It should be pretty easy to use the debugger to find the bug or bugs, because it sounds like the same crash happens everytime. (I'm assuming you know how to use a debugger to find bugs)

There is no way a few models will crash your system (assuming they aren't EXTREMELY detailed : > 1,000,000 vertices). Even if each model had, say, 10,000 vertices, times 32 bytes (a common vertex size, it depends though) = 320,000 bytes (312.5 KB). That is nothing It would take over 100 models to fill the memory of a 32 MB card (not including textures). Even if it does fill the V-RAM, it will flow into system RAM, then the hard drives. None of this will crash the computer, it will just go EXTREMELY slow.

Moral of the story: it is most likely a bug...

I have try to make one model using the 5 models i have in the town but when i run the model only 4 objects shows up on the screen. maybe it is an bad loader or something like that. Anyone of you have link were i can find an ohter one?
