Disclaimer: I didn't find a thread on this, so if it's already been posted just tell me :-p. The Induce Act Time to hide your mp3 players. I'm just waiting until they decide that the internet, and computers in general, with their ability to 'copy files' are illegal contraband. Yo-ho-ho for massive corporations abusing copyright law to cripple technological advancement and infringe on other companies' right to do business. When will the RIAA sue parents for allowing their children to have ears, which they've neferiously used to listen to music that they have not paid for?

I can see how some people think that it's a good idea (it makes peer-to-peer software such as Kazaa directly liable) but it's just not going to work. The companies making the software in question will just set up / host files on servers outside of the US, while legal uses for such software (such as distributing game demos, ShrinkWrap type stuff, and accelerated download tech like Bittorrent) gets stifled.

Yes, I read that about a week ago. I don't think it will pass, because if it does, prety much any R/W device (audio, video or digital) would be illegal. Including the hard drivers.
