Hi, I am planning on making a modeller that will create data for a very simple raytracer i made that renders spheres :) My question is, in programs like 3d studio max and maya, how do they organize all the data in the scene, is it just a scene graph? Also, in these programs, the more you add to the scence the slower the viewports become until the point it isn't realtime. Then you have programs like motion builer which lets you load the same scene but renders it in realtime. Do they both use scene graphs to organize the scene in a hierachy and motion builder goes a step further and magically improves rendering or does it use something completely different. What other ways is there to organize scene data for modellers? Any insight into this would be great, Thanks :)
