Hello Everyone... I have a question, and hopefully this is possible. I'm wondering if it is possible to take an installation of Visual C++ 6.0 and somehow get it to run off a CD. The reason I ask is because I'm in the Navy, and I'm not "allowed" to install any software on the ships computers. But, if I can somehow run VC++6 from a CD then I should be still able to do my programming while at sea. I'm going on a 6 month NATO in January and I don't think it will be too easy to go that long without programming, lol. Any ideas? I'm going to try a few things with a CDRW, and if I can get it figured out I'll let you know. PS: I do own Visual C++ 6... its not an illegel copy. Michael

Hey, i think I got it working.

What I did was on my Win2k machine I installed it as normal... but put the common folder in the VC6 folder too. Then I just burned the VC6 folder. I then installed a very fresh NT4 under a VMWare virtual machine. Run the msdev.exe from the CD in the nt4 system, and it complained about the mfc42.dll file, so I copied the mfc42.dll file from the host system to the CD, and now it loads the dev environment. I haven't compiled anything in it yet, but it's looking promising.

I think until I go away, I will just use this cd, and tweak it too over time. There may be some problems that I won't discover until I'm gone and it's too late... and that would suck! lol
