I heard about Ken Jennings, whose competing on Jeopardy right now, and he's been on a long winning streak. Apparantely he knows just about everything. I think I'll check out the new shows to see him in action. If you been watching him, is it worth checking out?

They've been showing clips of that guy on Letterman. Seriously, it's freaky. What the hell's wrong with him?

Sure, at least watch him once. It's incredible the breadth of his knowledge, there are very few subject he knows absolutely nothing about. Even though he may not be the best Jeopardy player ever, he's definitely high up there. I've been following him the whole time he's been on, which isn't on purpose, it's just that Jeopardy is the only show I watch on TV.

Personally, I'd like to see him hit a million before he loses. I know the producers are just eating this up. The majority of his wins have been locks, too.

BTW, he's a software engineer. [grin]

Hmmm, isn't this old news?

I even read in the newspaper how many times he won and the
prize money as well... Even the last time he won was already
shown on TV... sometime last week, I think.

The rules have changed... double the prize and no upper limit
on how many times you can win.

His appearances were taped months ago, February to be specific. He has long since returned to his home in Utah. It's kind of interesting in a strange sort of way.

He must read a lot.
I've been told I'm like a walking encyclopedia too but I tried to get on who want's to be a millionare one when you had to dial some phone number but damn thing was way too fast typing in all your answers with the phone so I never made it on there.

The interesting thing, in my opinion, isn't how much he's won, but how quickly after the rules changed that it happened. Before, you could only win like six times in a row before you got booted. They dropped that rule, and like a month later this guy starts. It makes me wonder if its a crazy coincidence, or if there have been lots of contestants that were cheated out of hundreds of thousands of dollars because of that rule?

The average Jeopardy contestant is smart in ways most people can't begin to understand, so I don't find the latter option to be that outrageous.

I've been watching his winning streak from the first week (on and off). It make your jaw drop at the start of the show when they announce how much he's won and then your jaw drops at the end of the show when they add it all up. Its definetly worth watching.

The rules changed more around 6 months or so before, iirc.

if you've watched the show, there are lots of smart people who probably would have gone on to win >$100,000 but i seriously doubt any would have reached this level...this guy is seriously confident/fast in his answering, and some pretty smart people have gone up against him, which shows the producers aren't trying to prolong his winning by pitting him against dumb people.
