Hi, I'm trying to find good Version Control Systems, but unlike most out there it has to be able to handle our artwork as well. Alienbrain appears to be one option. Are there other options out there besides it? -B

perforce works well, and is free for individual use

Well, I absolutely love Monotone for source code version control. It's fully distributed and handles binary files just as easily as ASCII files. It has a couple of areas that need further development for art use, though.
First, it's limited to files that are less than 16MB (it's a database page size issue). There has been discussion of this on the mailing list, although I'm not sure where this issue is on the priority list.
The second issue is the lack of a GUI for it; you have to use the command line. There is some work being done on this, but I'm not sure of the status.
If I had the time (school is taking up pretty much all of it right now) I would contribute to solving these problems. Monotone is under VERY active development, but it is stable enough that it is self-hosting. I really like the way it does things, and would absolutely recommend it if you can work within the current limitations until they are addressed or if your development team is willing to help address them.

CVS is sort of a template response for these sorts of things. There's also MS SourceSafe, as well as Bitkeeper.

Tortoise CVS is merely a CVS client. He needs a whole system...
