Hi,
I've been working on a 3D engine for a while, and I've come to the stage where things are getting more exciting, and I want to introduce some more people to get things moving.
The game plot/type. I want to create a 3D adventure/action game, with vast colorful, explorable landscapes. The kind of things you've started to see in the DMZG/IOM demos, I definitely want to shy away from the claustrophobic levels that we've seen in the Quake style games. I have so many exciting ideas(who doesn't), but I want to discuss and debate this with whomever joins the team, so it's a very flexible area.
I'm looking for two people, a designer, who must be experienced in 3DSMax, and hopefully some experience designing first-person 3D levels and models. We're going to be targeting next-gen technology, so you will have a lot of artistic flexibility.
I'm also looking for a programming partner, I've got some experience writing 3D engines, and expect the same from a partner. I currently have a technology engine I've been working on, and I've given a lot of thought to all the design issues etc, but if you have been working on your own engine we could probably come to some mutual agreement.
Experience with Direct3D and C++ is a must, along with a firm understanding of 3D graphics.
Why work on this project?
-As this is a small team, you will have a very large(equal) amount of control over the direction of the project.
-We aren't starting from scratch, we're not a bunch of newbies trying to get textures and collision working, so things should move quite fast.
-This isn't 'MY' project where you are my peon programming and designing slaves, it's going to be a complete joint effort.
-I don't think a flashy website, or a hoard of staff makes a game successful, what the whole thing boils down to is a few good programmers and designers who are resourceful, intelligent, creative, and willing to put in the effort, and this is where I think we will succeed.
-I'm not setting out to make a Quake-killer, just to COMPLETE a fun, exciting game, and if it's good, everything else will follow.
-We'll be working on cutting-edge exciting new technology and ideas to really push the limits of 3D games.
-It's something to stick on your resume at the end of the day :-)
