For some reason, when I execute my windows program nothing happens. Then I hit CTRL+ALT+DEL and find that the program is running but it's just not doing anything. And this only happens when I create new programs so maybe I'm just forgetting something, because whenever I create a console app it works just fine.

I'm using Visual C++ 6 and DX7, and I create a new Win32 app and then add the files that come with the DX sdk. I change the project settings for linking and add dxguid.lib and ddraw.lib.

Everything was working fine before, so I'm not sure why it's like this now. I did add the CDX library but I don't think that changed anything. Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like you're not displaying a window but you app is still running.

Yeah I figured it out. I didn't set the hIcon in the window class, and as soon as I set it the program worked.

Gee... What is everybodies obsession with opening up old threads? It is a bit lame if you ask me, though not as lame as replying to them... er.... oops
