Original Post
Fill in the blank: THE OAK SPANS FIVE ______. I saw this question on an IQ test and upon finding out the answer my response (and the response of all my friends) was a resounding, "wtf??". Give your answers and if anybody gets it right I want to know WHY on earth that is the answer.
LEGS.
generations or centuries it is.
I dont know what to say, I posed this question to a friend of mine, and he came up with an insane explanation, then again, he's pretty messed up and maybe so is whoever wrote this test.
(i said generations to him, assuming xMcBainx is right)

Yards.
Divs.
That is not a valid IQ test. I hate it when they use question like that.
First of it is a language based question. Meaning if English is not my first language I might not understand.
Secondly it is culture based. IE one cultures saying might differ from another.
I also came across a MENSA question sheet where they had question from the bible. Which is also terribly wrong. What if I was a Muslim or Hindu.
Some questions don't take all factors in consideration.

Assuming that you're referring to the same MENSA question that I'm thinking of, the actual question itself had nothing to do with the Bible, and any intelligent person should be able to answer it regardless of their cultural heritiage.
That question, however, has nothing to do with IQ. It's a purely knowledge-based question, which automatically invalidates the test as valid for IQ evaluation.

Undisclosed arbitrary units.
is the answer C?
Man, I'm stumped, which I guess makes me sane...
How long will you wait before giving us the answer? I long to know, oh learned one.

That's a pretty good answer.
But the real answer is fourty-two. So the oak spans five fourty-two.
So, what is five fourty-two? It turns out to be a highway somewhere, and the tree is lying across it blocking traffic, waiting for someone to turn it into fire wood.
